Day 365 (May 1, 2011)

Well, it's finally done and it's been a hell of a year! I said in my very first post that this was going to be extremely trying and I was not wrong.

Overall, I am very happy with the outcome. One of my main goals with this project was to increase my comfort level with using flash photography and after using my pair of strobes for a large majority of these shots, I feel I have come to a much greater understanding and appreciation for flash.

On the flip side, there are some things I would have liked to do a little differently. My creativity phases came and went. Sometimes, I felt that some of my photos were a little stale or lacked the emotional response I originally wanted while others I felt hit the nail on the head and I am very proud of those. I would like to be able to maintain a more consistent stream of great images (which is probably the most difficult thing for any artist, though, that’s what separates the mediocre from the best).

Another thing I would have liked to do a little differently is modify my workflow and branch out even more so outside my comfort level. Don’t get me wrong, there were many new techniques and post-processing ideas I tried out (some came out better than others) but towards the end, I felt that my concepts became a little formulatic (which I guess can be a little understood after 365 consecutive days).

For the few fans I have out there, thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words. It has made me work much harder knowing that other people are out there keeping up with my work and who enjoyed viewing them as much as I enjoyed making them.

I’d like to bid Wall-E adieu as he is off to his next great adventure.
